Wisdom, the fashioner of all things taught me there is in her, a spirit that is intelligent, holy, unique, manifold, facile, mobile, clear, unpolluted, distinct, invulnerable, loving the good, keen, irresistible, beneficent, humane, steadfast, sure, free from anxiety, all powerful, overseeing all and penetrating through all spirits that are intelligent, pure, and all together facile. For Wisdom is more mobile than any motion. Because of her pureness, she prevades and penetrates all things, for she is the breath of the power of God and the pure emanation of the glory of the Holy One. Therefore, nothing defiled gains entrance into her, for she is a reflection of eternal light, a spotless mirror of the working of God, and an image of God’s goodness. Although, she is but one, she can do all things, and while remaining in herself she renews all things. In every generation, she passes into holy souls and makes them friends of God and prophets. For God loves nothing so much as the person who lives with Wisdom. She is more beautiful than the sun and excels every constellation of the stars. Compared with the light she is found to be superior for it is succeeded by the night, but against Wisdom, evil does not prevail. She reaches mindfully from one end of the earth to the other and she orders all things well.
This particular scripture from the Book of Wisdom is one that I return to time and again. It speaks to the feminine qualities and strengths of the Holy Spirit. Holy Wisdom, the breath of God (Ruah), the Sacred Feminine aspect of the Divine Presence that’s alive within all of Creation.
In every generation, she passes into holy souls and makes them friends of God and prophets.
This beautiful passage calls me to seek the Divine, to speak authentically and truthfully, and to live life with sacred awareness.
Holy Wisdom, the spiritual gifts of the Sacred Feminine, have always been a central focus of my writing, and most recently at the heart of Belle Coeur spirituality and sisterhood. Several days ago, I drew my morning Belle Coeur wisdom card, #27, representing The Sacred Feminine. I experienced stirrings of inspiration as I referenced the card’s description and her qualities in the accompanying guidebook. Among her attributes, she is: Mother, Life-Bearer, Holy Wisdom, and Teacher.
Once again, I was inspired to turn to the above scripture from the Book of Wisdom. As I read the reading aloud, I heard the words, “A Woman’s legacy is her holy wisdom.” I have been pondering those words and the effects of an accompanying dream I received last night. I’ll save the details of the dream for another time.
On this chilly, late autumn afternoon as the sunlight begins to fade, I’m inspired to share an invitation with you. In mid-January I will begin to offer an individual and personalized program for the woman wishing to explore and express her holy wisdom as her legacy, through writing, craft, and collage-making. Details regarding this spiritual and creative journey will be shared soon.
As the New Year approaches, I invite you to contemplate the following…
- What is the nature and form of your personal holy wisdom, and how do you imagine giving it animation through self-expression?
- How do you wish to be remembered?
- What is the heart-felt, wisdom message you long to share at this time of your life’s journey?
- In what way is the Sacred Feminine speaking to your soul?
May this holiday season bless you through the Spirit of Holy Wisdom.
